Oh to be a good cook!!!

I love eating and eating again. I also like to watch shows about food and ways in which they make food look so darn deliscious. I on the other hand am not the best cook by any means, but my food is good to me(enough said). Presentation is an artform, making food look amazing is not a skill I posess. When I read the many cooking blogs you see some beautiful pictured presentations that look so amazing and appetizing. I have numerous vegetarian cook books, drink books, ice cream books and etc. All these darn books and never really posessed a truly artful gift for cooking. I just do not take the time to actually prepare a recipe and present it like I would hope these people do on the many food blogs I read. However, I do love to eat! I enjoy tasting the rich flavors that are parading through my mouth. One thing that is for darn sure, most of the food bloggers are people whom cook for a living, writers and longtime foodaholics. I want to actually spend a vacation learning how to become a good cook, who has mastered the art of presentation. Because,I would love to take my time and prepare a gorgeous meal from start to finish for a group of my friends(to show off). But until then here are a list of good, simple(by whose standards)and wonderful food blogs, that I read.

JUNE is going to be decadent...

Ok, I wanted to post something on June 1st but time is so of the essence and just had very little of it these last few weeks. One thing is for sure we all need time to enjoy our moments of peace. That being said, I forsee that this month of June will be far decadent in so many ways. I have started treating myself better with exercise and improving my eating habits. I have seen visible signs that this new way of eating has not only given me more energy but also has given me this radiant skin (that the Persian loves touching, YEAHHHH!!) and strong nails. This eating right and exercise stuff has some merit, who da thunk!! Enough about my stuff and onto my next love Online SHOPPING!!!

My one specific reader has asked me a number of questions about Fall Fashion trends and what do I see as must have, those classic pieces? I have decided to do a bit more research and put some real effort into this topic and give not only examples but also online sites. So, this being written it may take me a while to post this list but rest assured it is coming. Trendsetters that are sure to influence "a very stylish girl readers (AVSG)" this coming fall from fashion to food are the Spanish, French and Italian cultures on everything. We will hear about the famous French Dukan Diet, to SPAIN's dominance in Futbol/Soccer and just the food from Italy is so delish that we do not need to spend anymore time on a proven fact! So this blog is short and sweet but hopefully this will give you a little taste of what blog topics we will be discussing next week.

Carbon Copy Festival

I am all for trying to find a style icon to follow and emulate but DAMN!!! San Francisco's Oyster Fest was full of Cameron Diaz wannabees, it was like I was in the land of Diaz. I know some people would be fine with that but, I saw hundreds of girls rocking the same brown boots with skinny jeans, a white shirt and ray bans. That was the uniform of the day. No one stood out or even came through trying to be creative or stylish. It was sort of pathetic that a stylish town like San Francisco is so style deprived that they have to keep churning out the same look over and over. The men were just as bad, the sneaker look of saggy jeans and a t-shirt have left me wanting oh so much more. Maybe there is some substance to the recent interview with Danielle Steel in the Walls Street Journal stating that SF residents have no style? I will just chalk this up to one of those twilight zone shows where everyone was told how to dress and I and a few decided to come as ourselves and not like Cameron Diaz or Justin Timberlake...

I am so happy to see and feel even the slightest bit of Summer Sun. San Francisco has been so dreary lately, the few days of Sun are filled with a COLD breeze and then el'FOG rolls it gray head to town. I am looking forward to all the HOT stylish girls/guys who come out with their most stylish wear (YEAH). I am digging the new rompers that are out from Stella McCartney to H&M. However, being a girl with a few curves we need to stick with clothes that flatter and that means SOLIDS!! Prints and Flowers should be left to those whom are curve deficient...(too bad for them)stick with those and you should be fine. So, I am on the hunt for Fall Clothes...already, I know! But that is what Summer is for in my opinion. Getting my Fall looks together! I will not be able to update this blog like I want, not like I was a weekly blogger anyways, but I am taking a couple of Graduate Summer courses and they will occupy my time along with, the Persian, Clovis the Basset Hound, Shopping and School... see I have a lot on my plate. Blog Soon!! Sorry no tips today, well then again I did give you one. Toodles

Women and the Y gene when it comes to Science, Math and Technology

Science, Math and Technology is the FUTURE. Women make up less than 8% of those in the Technological development of these fields. How do we make the BIG idea of technology interesting and chic to women. Innovate and foster creativity for a woman to become a better leaders and become role models for other women. How not to let the discouraging missteps that are bound to happen stop you from achieving your goals. I believe we need to make science, math and technology readily available to young girls and women. Foster that sense that science is a feminine virtue and math is a sense of something attainable and can be mastered. I am always looking for ways to foster my imaginative and creative endeavors. I love Sci-fi and think that in another life I would have been a fabulous Engineer or maybe in my second career I will start a internet never know.

Cites for young girls or "Techno Girl" :

Do you ever get so busy, that the day just seems to pass by, as if you only just took a breath? I have had that kind of couple of weeks since the last blog. So in order for me to slow down or as one would say "smell the roses" I have committed myself to daily walks to enjoy simple moments rain or shine. Rain at this particular moment in SF. However, walking in the rain is enjoyable if you are prepared...I feel a tip coming: as long as you are somewhat prepared or not. Necessities are as following: a smile(who wants to walk around with a frown), good pair of Wellies (Hunter by choice), a warm jacket(that dries easily) and a good umbrella that repels rain to the best of its ability. Above all else an attitude that is receptive and open to enjoy the MOMENT! These moments of self reflection is needed for ones sanity and boy do I need a bit of Serenity, Serenity NOW!

Searching for the perfect pair of Biker Boots...

I am a bargain hunter for a number of things but there are some items that require me to splurge here and there. However, upon my searching the internet for a pair of biker boots that are stylish but not too manly and still have a feminine quality about them has come to a most unlikely place. TARGET!! Yes, to my surprise I have found the most stylish biker boot that are "Genuine Leather" for under $50 dollars. I ordered them immediately and they have finally arrived and I tried them on and to my surprise they are PERFECT!! I love it when a surprise purchase turns out the be the buy of the month. Who says you have to spend your hard earned money on items that try their best to SHOCK your pocket book, when they can be found for a more reasonable price it just requires a bit of creative thinking and searching skills galore. This Month's major score was at TARGET...

I find myself all over this city from one event to another and all the while trying to remain Fabulously Stylish and Energized. Grandma CHIC...

Grandma Chic is this style of dress. Where you wear an outfit that is neither tight or unbearably short, but with a mixture of patterns and well tailored. Now, I do love these looks because it is up to you how you want to mix the patterns and colors. I am all for individual style and hate to see someone walk out looking like the mannequin. However, I know not everyone has a fashion sense but everyone does know when they feel good in an article of clothing. Plus I had a stylish Grandma whom always had the best hair and lipstick color. Red lipstick is what every girl needs she would say, even on your worst day. WOW did she have style and class. Her best looks were casual and chic. So, take a pointer from Grandma Chic and be super neat and tailored.

Suze Orman says the American Dream for New Yorkers is different from the rest of the country -

Suze Orman says the American Dream for New Yorkers is different from the rest of the country -

Can also be applied to living in San Francisco. I am often tormented, less so these days since the economy tanked, by the reality that I will never be able to afford a home of my own (single woman.) However, I'm content with this lot in life of non home ownership. As long as I live in an apartment building that is clean, safe, and well maintained. Being close to all that city life can provide you is the key. I enjoy the opportunity that city dwelling affords me; walking to a local restaurant, running in Golden Gate Park (hello I never do this) or taking the MUNI to either the beach or to SOMA. The Theater, Symphony and the Opera are all here and one has to include the concerts and local events that happen regularly from The Oyster Festival to Opera at the Ballpark. I have it all in my city and love the fact that I can have it all. I love SF and I hope to grow old and savvy just like my city.

Happy World Water Day! This precious resource is so very sensitive and can be contaminated in such an easy way. We have to safeguard this resource through conservation and keep watchful eye on people, Business, Countries and Nations that continue to pollute our streams and rivers. We must also realize that there are some people who do not have access to clean water and suffer everyday, so contribute time or money to these wonderful causes:

Perks and more perks of SF City living...

Wine is the nectar of the Gods and one should enjoy all the benefits that they offer. So, as usual San Francisco will be hosting another wine event SF Vintners Market Spring Fling, held at Fort Mason on April 9 and 10. If you are anything like me you will enjoy this event. I am a lover of red wine in all its forms from Malbec to Pinot Noir. A tip and I am one for giving tips...always drink what you open and if that is the whole bottle, bottoms up.

Fresh flowers are a luxury for most people, including me. However, there are times when it is necessary to brighten your room and your mood. Also, why depend on a florist to design your bouquet. Design it yourself, and here is a tip: Always trust your style, you know what is best for you.

Rouge, Rojo, Rosso, Red

J'adore the color Red and have for years, and when I was younger I wore red lips to show my fashion sense but never really understanding the true power of red. I can honestly tell you that a woman with Red lips can wheel power by the color lipstick she chooses. Red can be either blue red or yellow red and men seem to prefer yellow red. I am now re-staking my claim of power by sporting red lips till I pass, I will be renowned for my lip color...because my lips will never get old...I

I am all for it but sometimes really why do we need each other? I value and love them very much but at times, I feel that the less communication we have the better. I am just venting today but DAMN I need a break from all the drama....Lord Help me... my Grandmother was the glue and her passing has made it quite hard.

I may be resolved to completely ban television from my life. I am always surprised by what they believe is a successful series these days. I am tired of the young tv shows with little to offer the world and super exhausted by the reality shows that exemplify the worst of American values. Quality television is an aging dinosaur and is about to become extinct. I am seriously thinking of putting the new 32" tele into the closet as a mirror!

Taking Care of Business...

Finances, Finances...who said "all my wealth is in my closet?" I am trying to become a better steward of my finances. I have started to really concentrate on my own well being (basically, I have got to start saving like the world is ending tomorrow) and become thrifty. I admire my mother whom has always stated get your retirement set so you will not have to work till you are close to the No laughing matter we are all going to have to work at least till we are 65 or older...NOOOOO! Unless you start today! I follow the financial guru Mellody Hobson and she is so real with building wealth and doing it slow and steady check her site at Taking care of business is my priority this year and years to come....

The Art of Negotiating

Ok, I am not good at this AT ALL! However, The Persian is quite good at it... I will have to start to take lessons. One lesson is to ask and that is hard but like the old saying goes "a closed mouth does not get fed." Don't be afraid to say you found it somewhere for cheaper because that is almost always the case but they don't know that for sure. Walk away if you can wait till the price decreases. And believe me I am still learning from the master and more tips to come.

Hello Social Media

Oh my! My very first post. What shall the mood of my post be? I know how happy I am to start another social media page. I am burnt out on FB, Twitter and the others maybe this will peak my interest. Just a small note more to come when, I get more familiar with the site.
